Backpacking Red River Gorge May 2010
I wanted isolation and I found it. I wanted to get away from people, and the further I hiked from the trailhead, the fewer I saw and the more peaceful it seemed. Eventually there was no one. Perfect!
Read MoreI'm resting at a nifty little perch I found. A very scenic stream is about 70 feet straight down. Unfortunately during most of the hike, the jungle of Rhododendrons and other foliage allowed only intermittent, seductive views of the gorgeous streams below. Thankfully though, I was almost always able to hear the relaxing sounds of the water.
