Finally at the top. I discovered that years ago, there was a decent access road that would allow a 4WD vehicle access all the way to the top. But progressive landslides took out sections of the road, making it no longer accessible other than by foot or ATV. Red River Gorge is the site of numberous fatalities, mostly by less-than-sober people trying to look over the edge. Because a nice access road once allowed these folks to reach this lookout, a rail was built to try and keep the dummies from killing themselves. Because of the landslides removing easy access to this awesome site, not many people visit here anymore. Most people wouldn't know where to even begin the 2 mile hike.
